Why Join WAMA?

Why Join WAMA?

The Value of Your WAMA Membership!

  1. Sends a message.  Membership and participation in professional associations such as WAMA tells your customers, your principals and other representatives that you and your agency are committed and in touch with the issues that shape your profession and the industries it serves.
  2. Networking is a factor critical to the growth and long term development of today’s Manufacturers’ Representatives’ Agency.
    1. As a WAMA member, you meet and exchange ideas and information with other active representatives facing the same issues and operating in the same changing market place and world environment as you and your firm.
    2. This happens through several means: WAMA luncheons, seminars, monthly breakfast meetings, the monthly newsletter, as well as one on one relationships which grow out of meeting people in WAMA and related organizations.
  3. Education is another key to the vitality and viability of your agency.
    1. Each monthly WAMA luncheon offers insights from an informative speaker as well as the chance to learn through table-top discussions. Lunch is included with your Member status in WAMA.
    2. WAMA offers one to one half day seminars each year with current topics, such as:
      1. Your Offshore Strategy,  Succession Planning, Technology, Contracts, Growing Your Agency, and other contemporary issues and concerns.
      2. WAMA members attend at discounted rates.
    3. Membership in WAMA gives you access to educational opportunities hosted by other related representatives’ organizations including, MANA, MRERF, ERA, NEMRA and others, usually at a discounted rate.  Membership allows you access to MRERF’s C.P.M.R. program and other courses.
  4. Professional end of the year tax update review by Attorney and CPA Tom Kammerait of von Briesen & Roper, S.C. Each member who attends receives a bound booklet outlining the tax update for that year, as well as the “Year End Review.”  Worth many billable hours of attorney time, this in itself pays for your annual WAMA dues.
  5. Access to New Principals:
    1. The Wrap-UP, WAMA’s monthly news letter, provides a list of principals seeking representation.  It also details information about WAMA meetings, events and other association news.
    2. WAMA’s web site at www.wama.org includes a searchable database available to members as well as to principals actively seeking representation.
  6. Support the Rep Profession.  The Wisconsin Rep Commission Protection Act became part of our legal system as a result of the work done by dedicated WAMA members.  Other WAMA members and Reps in general, have benefited from the Act in recovering post termination compensation.  The act has been successfully tested through the case of a WAMA member, all the way to the Wisconsin State Supreme Court. WAMA, as an association, provided “Friend of the Court” briefs to assist in the.  Without dedicated WAMA members, the Wisconsin Rep Commission Protection Act would not exist today.  What will be the issues of the future?
  7. Other benefits include occasional social outings, discount programs and opportunities to share thoughts and ideas with other seasoned professional Manufacturers Representatives and to mentor those new to the profession.
